About the Role
Fraudsters are already using AI to forge documents, fake identities, and spoof locations. As an Applied AI Researcher at CargoGuard, you will stay a step ahead of them, turning frontier research into deployed defenses across document forensics, identity verification, and location integrity. This is research that ships, and research that protects real freight.
What You Will Do
- Research and prototype methods for detecting GPS spoofing, forged documents, and synthetic identities
- Apply large language models and computer vision to bills of lading, rate confirmations, and driver credentials
- Build adversarial evaluation frameworks that simulate how criminals will attack our systems
- Move promising research into production alongside our ML engineering team
- Track the state of the art and advise leadership on emerging AI threats and opportunities
- Publish, patent, and represent CargoGuard in the research community
What We Require
- Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field
- 5+ years of post-doctoral or industry research experience with work deployed in production
- First-author publications at top venues such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR, ACL, or USENIX Security
- Deep expertise in at least one of: computer vision, large language models, adversarial ML, or signal processing
- Expert Python and PyTorch skills with experience training and fine-tuning large models
- Ability to independently scope ambiguous problems and drive them to measurable results
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
What Sets You Apart
- Research in deepfake detection, document forensics, or GNSS security
- Patents or open-source tools with meaningful adoption
- Experience at a leading industrial AI lab
