Freight Broker Tracking Software With Driver Verification
Track brokered loads with GPS updates every five seconds during active tracking. CargoGuard brings driver verification, shipment alerts, pickup photos, and delivery documents into one workspace, so your team can follow the load and investigate exceptions from pickup through delivery.
Your Load. One Shipment View.
Load Tracking Built for Brokered Freight
Your brokerage needs to follow a shipment even when the truck belongs to a carrier. CargoGuard connects the assigned driver, location updates, shipment status, photos, and documents in one load record. Open that record to answer a shipper’s question, hand a shipment to the next shift, or investigate a change during transit.
Use CargoGuard alongside your transportation management system (TMS), carrier-vetting process, and pickup-authorization procedures. Tracking helps you follow the shipment; driver checks and pickup evidence help you review who is collecting it.
How Broker Truck Tracking Works
1. Set up the load and assigned driver
Start with the shipment reference, pickup and delivery details, and the assigned carrier and driver. Confirm which checks, photos, and documents your team needs for the load. CargoGuard’s API supports shipment creation and updates when your systems are connected; agree on the matching load reference before using an integration.
2. Get the driver ready before pickup
The driver follows the CargoGuard mobile app prompts for the assigned shipment. Requested tasks can include a license scan, selfie check, truck registration, and pickup photos. Confirm tracking participation and the required phone permissions before relying on the map.
Review the driver verification result and truck and license plate photos against the pickup assignment. Resolve a driver or equipment mismatch through your established carrier-contact and release process.
3. Follow five-second GPS updates
During active tracking, CargoGuard supports GPS location updates every five seconds. Review the latest received timestamp, shipment status, route, and available history in the broker workspace. Device permissions, location availability, and connectivity affect whether a new update can arrive.
If updates stop, check the last reported location and contact the driver or carrier. Ask the driver to troubleshoot only when safely parked. The real-time freight tracking guide explains how to follow up on missing updates.
4. Respond to alerts and keep shippers informed
CargoGuard supports arrival, departure, delivery, delay, and potential GPS-manipulation alerts, along with device-change detection. Email and SMS notifications, custom escalation rules, and automatic shipper or customer updates help your team coordinate follow-up. Confirm the events, recipients, and settings for your account during setup.
Review an alert with the load history, driver information, and GPS integrity checks. Assign a person to investigate and communicate the confirmed status. A tracking concern calls for review; it does not by itself establish fraud.
5. Close the load with its delivery records
Drivers can capture bills of lading and proof of delivery in the app. Keep the delivery documents with pickup photos and the shipment timeline, so your team can find the records when a question comes up. Review readability, load references, and missing signatures before closing the shipment.
Connect Tracking to Your TMS
The freight and load tracking API supports workflows involving shipment creation and updates, GPS information, driver verification, and event webhooks. Tell us which TMS you use and which information your team needs to exchange.
Compatibility and implementation depend on your systems. Review the current documentation, available fields and events, authentication, and testing requirements with your technical team before rollout. An available API does not mean every TMS connection is already configured.
Compare the Workflow on a Real Load
In your demo, follow a shipment from driver setup to delivery. Check how staff find the latest update, review a driver change, respond to a delay, and retrieve proof of delivery. Use our truck tracking feature checklist and five broker tracking workflows to prepare your questions.
For pickup security, combine that workflow with your carrier checks. FMCSA’s broker and carrier fraud guidance is a reference for verifying contacts and checking the truck that arrives. CargoGuard’s double brokering prevention workflow shows where verification and shipment records fit.
Broker Tracking Questions, Answered
What is truck tracking for freight brokers?
It is a way to follow a brokered shipment’s reported location and progress between pickup and delivery. CargoGuard combines those updates with driver verification, shipment alerts, pickup photos, and delivery records, giving brokers a shipment-focused view of the load.
How often does CargoGuard update truck locations?
CargoGuard supports five-second GPS updates during active tracking. Check the timestamp of the latest received location: connectivity, device permissions, and location availability can interrupt updates.
Does the driver need to use an app?
CargoGuard’s mobile workflow uses the driver app for shipment tasks and tracking participation. Drivers follow the installation and shipment instructions supplied during onboarding. Confirm supported phones, location permissions, and when tracking starts and ends before the first load.
Can CargoGuard send tracking updates to customers?
Yes. CargoGuard supports automatic shipper and customer notifications, including email and SMS alerts. Agree on the events and recipients, test the settings, and assign someone to follow up on exceptions.
Can CargoGuard connect with our TMS?
CargoGuard supports API-based integration for shipment, GPS, verification, and event workflows. Bring your TMS name and required data to the demo so the technical teams can confirm compatibility, scope, and testing.
How do we discuss pricing for our brokerage?
Contact CargoGuard with your shipment volume, team workflow, and integration needs to discuss pricing and fit. The demo is an opportunity to review the driver experience, tracking requirements, and the setup your operation needs.
Does tracking replace carrier verification?
No. Location information does not independently establish driver identity, pickup authorization, or custody of the freight. Keep your carrier-vetting and release procedures in place, and investigate conflicting information with verified contacts.
