Cargo Theft Investigations Lead

About the Role
When a load goes missing, the first hours decide whether it is ever recovered. As our Cargo Theft Investigations Lead, you will build and lead CargoGuard’s investigations function, coordinating with customers, insurers, and law enforcement to recover stolen freight and dismantle the organized groups behind it.
What You Will Do
- Lead rapid-response investigations into theft, fictitious pickups, and strategic cargo theft incidents
- Serve as primary liaison with federal, state, and local law enforcement and cargo theft task forces
- Build investigation playbooks, evidence standards, and chain-of-custody procedures
- Recruit, train, and lead a team of investigators and analysts
- Advise product and engineering on features that improve recovery rates and deterrence
- Represent CargoGuard at industry councils, conferences, and with insurance partners
What We Require
- 10+ years of investigative experience in cargo theft, supply chain security, federal or state law enforcement, or insurance special investigations
- 3+ years leading investigative teams or major multi-jurisdiction cases
- An established network across law enforcement, cargo theft task forces, and the insurance industry
- Documented record of successful recoveries and case outcomes
- Expert knowledge of freight operations, organized retail and cargo crime, and evidence handling
- Exceptional report writing and courtroom-ready documentation skills
- Ability to travel and respond to incidents on short notice
What Sets You Apart
- Former FBI, HSI, or state police major crimes experience
- CPP or PSP certification from ASIS International
- Active involvement with TAPA or regional cargo theft associations
