Senior Data Engineer, Telematics Pipelines

About the Role
GPS devices, ELDs, mobile apps, and partner APIs all stream data into CargoGuard around the clock. As a Senior Data Engineer on Telematics Pipelines, you will build the data backbone that everything else depends on: clean, verified, real-time location and event data that our fraud models, customers, and investigators trust completely.
What You Will Do
- Architect streaming and batch pipelines that ingest telematics data from hundreds of device and ELD providers
- Normalize, deduplicate, and validate location data, including signals used to detect GPS spoofing
- Build a governed data lakehouse that serves analytics, machine learning, and customer reporting
- Define data contracts, quality checks, and lineage across every source
- Optimize storage and compute costs as data volume grows by orders of magnitude
- Partner with ML and backend teams to deliver real-time features and APIs
What We Require
- 7+ years of data engineering experience building production pipelines at scale
- B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
- Expert experience with Spark, Flink, or Beam and streaming platforms such as Kafka or Kinesis
- Deep knowledge of modern warehouses and lakehouses including Snowflake, Databricks, Delta Lake, or Iceberg
- Advanced Python, Scala, or Java and expert-level SQL
- Proven experience processing high-frequency IoT, telematics, or geospatial data (PostGIS, H3, or similar)
- Strong grounding in orchestration (Airflow, Dagster), data quality frameworks, and cloud infrastructure

- Built a data platform from the ground up at an early-stage company
