CargoGuard Frequently Asked Questions
Direct answers about CargoGuard driver verification, freight tracking, pickup photos, alerts, fraud review, document capture, API integration, data security, and rollout.
Product Basics
What does CargoGuard do?
CargoGuard brings driver verification, freight tracking, pickup evidence, shipment alerts, timeline events, and delivery documents into one workflow. The goal is to give brokers, 3PLs, and shippers more context around the active load instead of relying on a map or a single verification result. See the full CargoGuard feature set.
Who is CargoGuard designed for?
CargoGuard is designed for freight brokers, 3PL teams, and shippers that need shipment visibility and security information for freight moved by outside carriers. Drivers use the mobile app to complete the shipment tasks requested for their loads. See CargoGuard solutions by role.
Is CargoGuard a carrier-vetting platform?
CargoGuard does not replace your carrier-vetting process. Carrier vetting evaluates the company. CargoGuard adds driver, vehicle, pickup, tracking, alert, and delivery information around the shipment so your team can review the actual pickup and movement of the load.
Does CargoGuard replace our TMS or ELD?
CargoGuard is not presented as a replacement for a transportation management system or an ELD compliance system. It adds a verification, tracking, exception, photo, and document workflow around the active shipment. Review the Freight Visibility Platform page for the distinction.
Driver Verification and Pickup
What does the driver verification workflow review?
The published CargoGuard workflow includes driver license capture, a selfie check, registration information, and related review steps. Your team compares the available results with the shipment assignment and investigates inconsistencies before treating the pickup as routine. Learn more about driver verification software.
Does a successful driver check mean the freight should be released?
No. A verification result is information for your review; it is not permission for any driver to collect any load. Your organization and the pickup facility still confirm the specific assignment, carrier, equipment, and release instructions.
What should we do if the driver or truck does not match the assignment?
Review the available verification and vehicle information, then confirm the change through established carrier and pickup contacts before treating it as authorized. A mismatch is a reason to investigate, not automatic proof of fraud. See the unauthorized carrier substitution workflow.
Can pickup photos help with the review?
Yes. Requested truck and pickup photos can give the team visible equipment and carrier details to compare with the assignment, along with date, time, and location context. A photo supports the review but does not independently prove carrier authority. See geofenced photo verification.
Tracking, Alerts, and Visibility
How often does CargoGuard update shipment locations?
CargoGuard’s published active-tracking workflow uses five-second location updates. Device connectivity, permissions, and participation affect when updates reach the platform, so always check the timestamp of the latest received update. See real-time freight tracking.
Does the driver need to participate in tracking?
CargoGuard’s driver workflow uses the mobile app for tracking, verification, requested photos, and documents. Confirm the device requirements and permissions before rollout. A carrier assignment alone does not mean the driver is actively tracking. See the mobile driver app.
What if the latest location is missing or stale?
Check when the last update was received and compare the tracking history with the rest of the shipment record. Missing updates can have several causes, including connectivity, permissions, device behavior, or driver participation. Contact the driver or carrier when clarification is needed.
What do anti-spoofing and shipment alerts mean?
CargoGuard can surface shipment events and potential location-manipulation concerns for review. Treat an alert as a prompt to investigate with the driver, carrier, assignment, photos, and tracking history; an alert is not proof of fraud. See anti-spoofing GPS and automated shipment alerts.
Fraud and Cargo-Security Workflows
Can CargoGuard help reduce double brokering risk?
CargoGuard supports a workflow that compares the driver and vehicle with the shipment assignment, follows the active load, and keeps pickup and delivery evidence together. Those checks can help surface inconsistencies associated with unauthorized re-brokering, but they do not guarantee that every double-brokered load will be detected. See double brokering prevention.
Can CargoGuard help with cargo theft prevention?
CargoGuard can support theft-prevention procedures with driver and vehicle review, active tracking, pickup evidence, alerts, and delivery records. Carrier vetting, shipper release procedures, physical security, and incident-response plans remain important. See cargo theft prevention software.
Does CargoGuard automatically decide whether a load is fraudulent?
No. CargoGuard can surface verification information, tracking activity, photos, documents, and alerts for review. The broker, 3PL, or shipper decides how to investigate and what action to take based on the available evidence and its own procedures.
Can CargoGuard prevent every fraud or theft attempt?
No software platform can guarantee prevention of every fraud or theft event. CargoGuard is one layer of a broader freight-security program. See the Freight Security hub for the complete workflow.
Photos and Documents
What shipment documents can be kept with the load?
The CargoGuard workflow supports shipment-document capture such as bills of lading and proof of delivery. Keeping available documents associated with the load makes it easier to review the tracking history, pickup evidence, and delivery record together. See secure document capture.
Does arrival at the receiver mean the shipment file is complete?
Not necessarily. Arrival and receipt of the required proof-of-delivery record are different events. Confirm that the documents your operation needs are readable and associated with the correct shipment before treating the file as complete.
API, Integrations, and Data Security
Can CargoGuard connect with our existing systems?
CargoGuard supports API-based integration for shipment data, tracking information, verification results, and event webhooks. Compatibility and implementation depend on the systems, data fields, events, authentication, and testing required. See the Freight Tracking API.
Does CargoGuard integrate with every TMS or ELD?
Universal TMS or ELD compatibility should not be assumed. The integration path depends on the provider, its interfaces, the data required, and the development and testing involved. See CargoGuard Integration Partners for planning guidance.
How should we evaluate data security before integrating?
Map which shipment, driver, photo, document, and event data will move between systems. Confirm current authentication, access, retention, credential, webhook, and downstream-system requirements before rollout. See Data Security and API Controls.
Does CargoGuard certify that our operation is compliant?
No. CargoGuard can help organize shipment records and support your internal review process, but your organization remains responsible for deciding which legal, regulatory, contractual, customer, insurance, and security requirements apply. See Compliance and Infrastructure.
Demo and Rollout
What should we bring to a CargoGuard demo?
Bring one of your normal shipment workflows, the systems your team uses, the checks performed before pickup, the tracking or fraud problems that create the most work, and the photos, documents, or notifications customers expect. That lets the demo focus on your real process rather than a generic feature tour.
How long does CargoGuard implementation take?
Timing depends on your shipment workflow, team structure, driver requirements, integration scope, testing, and rollout plan. Review those details with CargoGuard before committing to a schedule.
How do we get started?
Use the Book a Demo page or contact CargoGuard. Walk through driver verification, pickup evidence, tracking, alerts, documents, integration requirements, and the roles responsible for each step.
